SEGMIN is a community group (Google Group) that provides the global mining geophysical community a common social media platform hosted by the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG) that allows individuals wherever they are to tap into the knowledge of the community as a whole, thereby allowing us all to share experiences and concerns that affect us both as individuals, our profession and society as a whole. Currently, an invitation to join has been extended to members of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG), members of the SEG Mining and Mineral Exploration (MME) Committee, the Canadian Exploration Geophysical Society (KEGS), the British Columbia Geophysical Society (BCGS) and the Southern African Geophysical Association (SAGA). Other groups or individuals who share a common interest in mining geophysics are also welcome.
SEGMIN is open to geophysicists, geologists, data scientists, students, academics, and industry professionals with an interest in geophysics for mineral exploration and mining. While SEG and ASEG memberships are clearly defined, participation in SEGMIN is intentionally open and collegial. If you contribute to the mailing list, you’re part of the our community.
Coordinate MME activities including committee meetings and calls for volunteers.
Support technical programming for mining and mineral exploration sessions and workshops at the SEG Annual Meeting (IMAGE) & ASEG.
Foster discussion on geophysics in mineral exploration: ask questions, share insights, and exchange experience and resources.
Grow the network via our group for announcements, opportunities, and community highlights.
We strive to keep SEGMIN welcoming, practical, and informative:
Stay on topic. Discussions should relate to geophysics in mineral exploration and mining.
Be constructive and respectful. Professional conduct is essential. Harassment or disrespectful behaviour is not tolerated and may result in removal from the list.
Overtly commercial postings are discouraged. It is acceptable to share neutral, educational information about methods, services, technologies, or events relevant to a technical problem or community need.
Follow SEG and ASEG policies. Use of the list is governed by SEG and ASEG guidelines and codes of conduct. If you have questions or concerns, contact the Group Managers.
SEGMIN is administered by the MME Committee with support from ASEG. List moderation is handled by the Group Owners to maintain relevance and uphold community standards. Questions about moderation, membership, or list usage can be directed to the contacts below.
